Momentary Obsessions...

And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness; the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us.
- Kahlil Gibran

Think I m lost again.

I feel like taking pictures. Certain images floating in my head that I would like to see on screen... or glossy sheets of paper.

But, more than that, I feel like writing a song and strumming strings...

But, it’s just not ‘perfect’. I’ve tried writing a few posts – but not perfect. Sketching – not perfect... Images – not perfect... And now songs...

I guess, Salvador really knew what he was talking about when he said – “Have no fear of perfection. You’ll never reach it!”

Lately, due to certain unavoidable circumstances, I’ve picked the guitar again - and, although I am fairly bad with it, I can’t seem to put it down.

My headphones seal my ears, as I constantly hear Ben Harper’s voice.

Surrounded by these songs and album covers, I wonder – why couldn’t life be just like an album cover? Every cover defining a phase... You capture the prefect image for it. You come up with the perfect title. The perfect colours and design... fonts... And 18 tracks describing various emotions within the phase...
Each and every album - a memory of life...

So, here is this one -- to the imperfections of life, and the perfection of some of my favourite album covers.

(Try and view each link...)
August and Everything After – Counting Crows (Their first album title, symbolizing everything that happened after the August they got their record deal)
This Desert Life – Counting Crows (That ‘two lost souls swimming in a fish-bowl’ picture -- it defines this desert life.)
Welcome to the Cruel World - Ben Harper (I love the sense of disappointment and shame his face portrays)
Fight Your Mind - Ben Harper (It's broken -- you can fix it in anyway you like. Love the burning frustration.)
Live from Mars - Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals (This, to me, is based on the idea that Men are from Mars. So, it’s the story from his eyes)
To Venus and Back - Tori Amos (Here's the feminine side of the story... An incomplete sketch of that cover waits in my sketchpad till today...)
Little Earthquakes – Tori Amos (I love the idea of an artist taking shelter in a box -- fearing those earthquakes. Will she ever reach her full potential?)
Bushfire Fairytales - Jack Johnson (This was his first album I ever came across. I enjoy the idea of heavy rain being a fairytale in a bushfire...)
In Between Dreams (special UK edition) – Jack Johnson (This is exactly when the best ideas come through – in between dreams and consciousness)
In My Place (single) - ColdPlay (Every single from their second album had a nice sketched cover -- which was always incomplete. Much like this one.)
Desireless – Eagle Eye Cherry (My blogger profile picture is actually based on this cover)
Definitely Maybe – Oasis (That wasted living room and the uncertainty of the title is the essence of life)
Nevermind - Nirvana (I m sure everyone knows this one)
The Freewheelin' - Bob Dylan (Memories of a Vanilla Sky)

I know I missed out so many -- but, this could go on for a while...
